Crazy about PEGS

stella

After we did the Baa Baa ART last week, Stella is fixated with pegs.  She was asking me over and over again if she could do ‘something’ with pegs.  I remember I bought these tiny pegs from the $2 shop and I thought let’s just go wild and make whatever comes to mind.  So we made a catepillar with tiny pegs, then a ballerina with pegs skirt, then the crazy peg-man and a rocket.  Stella had so much fun, she was on her little chair for 2 hours. I had to help her with the little pegs though, they were too small for her to handle.

I definitely need to get more pegs from the shop, otherwise i won’t be able to do any laundry.

Baa Baa Art

Tuesday morning.  Jake is napping.  Time for Stella.  She wanted to do something! But not sure what that something was… and honestly I didn’t know what to do too, until I saw some cotton ball.  So I told her, let’s make Baa Baa Art!  Wow… what’s Baa Baa Art mummy?  Well, it’s a funky name for a sheep, sweety!

What u need.

Cotton balls

Draw a picture of the sheep’s body (like a huge cloud), and the sheep’s head.   Cut out the body and the head.

Ask your child to put some glue on the body and stick the head on one side and filled up the body with lots and lots of cotton balls.   Then add the pegs for the legs.

When we finished the Baa Baa Art.  Stella asked if she could now make Oink Oink Art and then Moo Moo Art!  So we did.

3 Eyes Girlie Monster!

I saw a packet of foam shapes for decorating card at Spotlight the other day  (I do shop from time to time).  I thought it would be perfect for Stella.  She LOVES sticking.  The packet include foam sheets, foam letters, foam shapes, foam stickers and wiggly eyes.  We did the foam cards today, while Jake was napping.  Stella made a sheep card that has a Happy Birthday on it…which would go to Aunty Kelen … and then she created 3 eyes girly monster (inspired by the book Monster Inc) and a ballerina with a big pink hair!

This is the perfect activity to do with kids who love sticking and mom who hates cleaning up goey sticky glue from the table.  It is also a fun way to learn how to count; when we took the foams out from the package we sorted them into piles according to shapes and then counted how many are on each piles. Some kids (or maybe just mine) are not always interested in counting but while doing this activity, she was happy and excited to count all the different shapes. So, not only it was fun but it was also educational.  Why don’t you give it a go – your kids might enjoy it too!
